WATER POLLUTION
Water pollution is the contamination of
water bodies such as lakes, rivers, oceans, and
groundwater caused by human activities,
which can be harmful to organisms and plants
which live in these water bodies.

URBANIZATION?
Urbanization means the removal of the rural characteristics of a town area, a process
Associated with the development of civilization and technology. The term denotes
REDISTRIBUTION of POPULATION from RURAL to URBAN SETTLEMENT.
TOTAL POPULATION 1950 2.5 BILLION
2007 6.6 BILLION

DID YOU KNOW
1.The World Health Organization has estimated that 80% of
All Sickness and Disease is caused by Polluted Water, it’s
Availability and inadequate sanitation.

2.Around 25 Million children under 5 die each year from water

Associated diseases, one-third of these deaths being from
Diarrhea alone.

PREVENTION
Following steps should be taken to control water pollution:
• Use effluent treatment plant
•Use sewage treatment plant
•Use Aerators
•Use of Septic tanks
•Industrial Treatment
• Water Conservation at Home
SEPTIC TANKS
A septic tank is a large tank, where all
the waste water from your home is
stored. There it receives very basic
treatment. Here division is made in
heavy and light effluent. Light
decomposed by bacteria and heavy one
removed manually.
GOVERNMENT PLANS
HYDROLOGY PROJECT

The project is founded by the world bank and the Netherlands government.
The project covers Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa , Andhra Pradesh,
Tamil nadu, Karnataka, Kerala. The beneficianaries are Central and State Government
Organizations-Central Water Commission(CWC) ,Central Water and Power Research
Station(CWPRS), Central Ground Water Board(CGWB) and many more under the
Ministry of Water Resources, government of INDIA.
THE MAIN OBJECTVES
OF HYDROLOGY PROJECT
The Objective of the Project are to develop a comprehensive,
easily accessible and user friendly data bases covering all the
Aspects of Hydrological cycle including Surface and Ground
Water in terms of quantity, quality and climatic measurements,
Particularly of rainfall, through a network of a total of a about
299 laboratories.
WHO’S GONNA CONTRO
USING WATER
EFFICIENTLY
As we all know that water is a vital resource to our planet and the living things
that inhabit it.
With booming population and outgoing drought conditions, our water
resources are becoming taxed.

So protecting and preserving the NATION’S water supply is critical to our

economy , environment , and human health . so using water efficiently now
will ensure water supplies for FUTURE GENERATION.
DID YOU KNOW
1.A Family of four uses FOUR HUNDRED(400) gallons
of water every day.
2.Water sensed labelled products use about 20 percent less
water and perform as well or better than their less
efficient counter part.
3.The HOME DEPOT has partnered with the EPA’S sense
program to promote water –efficient products and
practices across the country.
4. Only 1% of the Earth’s Water is available for human use.
5. If one out of ten homes in the INDIA/US upgraded to
water efficient fixtures , it could save more than 300 billion
Gallons and nearly 2 billion dollars annually.
THE HOME DEPOT
They are the world’s largest home improvement speciality
retailer with stores in all 50 states.
