ABSTRACT

The active principle of the species taken, Coffea arabica, caffeine has wide therapeutic uses, exercising its therapeutic properties in the
different devices and systems, within the human body. Currently, caffeine is part of several drugs, from different therapeutic classes.

INTRODUCTION

The species Coffea arabica L. is originating in the area of

Montana of S-E. It was originally grown by Arabs and its use RESULTS
spread rapidly in the Arab world. It was introduced in
Europe by Venetians, from where it was spread to France, The cross-section of the stem has highlighted the following structure: the
England and other States. It is widely grown in Indonesia, contour of the cross-section by the stem is unregularly polygonal costed,
Sri Lanka, the Antile Islands, India, Celom, French Guyana, with some more prominent ribs;
Ethiopia, Brazil, Colombia, Yemen. the epidermis has square or slightly elongated tangential cells with the wall
thickened and covered by a thin ribbed cuticule; the tectors are very rare.
MATERIAL AND METHOD

The fresh plant of Coffea arabica was purchased from

Magnolia flower shop in Constanta. Being a tropical
species, we in the country cannot be acclimatized, which is
why they grow as an ornamental plant. The identification
was accompanished in the Laboratory of Pharmaceutical
Botany using our own flora field guides. The anatomical
study was conducted on transversal sections cut through
the root, stem and leaves.

RESULTS

The cross-section through the root of the plantation of the

CONCLUSIONS

The cross-section by root has revealed a primary bark composed of large, elongated cells with an endoderm composed of square cells and a
central cylinder with a free ring much thinner than the secondary wood.
The contour of the cross-section by the stalk is irregular, with some more prominent ribs.
