POWER

DISTRIBUTION
3 TYPES OF DISTRIBUTION:

 Radial system
 Ring main system
 Interconnected system
Radial system:

Loads

Sub station
Transmission
lines

Power lines
Advantages:
Cheap
Easy to construct

Dis-advantages:
Nearest end is highly loaded, rather the farthest is
lowly loaded
There is only one transmission line, if any fault in
it the whole system will fail
The farthest end of load will experience lot of
voltage fluctuations due to small change in
transmission lines
Ring main system:

Sub Primary
station ring
Advantages:
Less voltage fluctuations
There are two transmission lines connected to
each load at a time, therefore more reliable even
if any one breaks out the other will circulate
power
Even distribution of voltage to all the loads

Dis-advantages:
 Low power is supplied due to single
sub-station
Interconnected system:
Sub
station
1

Sub
station
2
Advantages:
High power is supplied to all the loads
High reliability even at high load conditions
Increases efficiency of the system
