3 ROLE OF HORMONES IN HUMANS

Prepared by:

ulang Nota 3.1:
Kita dah selesai bincang nervous sytem (3.1 & 3.2). Sekarang nak bincang
endocrine system.

COORDINATION
The process involved in the detection of stimulus
by receptor, interpreting of the information by
integrating centre in the brain and the subsequent
actions of the effectors to produce response of the
organism towards the stimulus.

It involves both nervous system & endocrine

system.
COORDINATION OF THE
BODY

Controlled by

NERVOUS ENDOCRINE
SYSTEM SYSTEM

Control the body’s

activities by releasing
chemicals called
HORMONES
Chemicals which secreted in the
bloodstream by endocrine glands that
HORMONES can regulate the activities of organs
& tissues.

Cth pernah bljr

sebelum ni hormon
insulin & glucagon
which secreted by
pancrease.
ENDOCRINE
SYSTEM
1) Made up of
endocrine glands.

Take note Figure 3.4

Page 91,
hypothalamus tu
component dlm
Nervous System, yang
lain endocrine gland.
2) Does not have ducts.

3) Produce & release hormones directly into the bloodstreams.

Duct

No duct
TASK 1: Label the endocrine glands below.

Hypothalamus
Pituitary gland

Thyroid

Adrenal gland
Pancreas

Ovary

Testis
TASK 2

Explain why the pituitary gland is a ductless gland and

also known as the master gland.
It is because pituitary gland controls other endocrine glands such as thyroid

- Rujuk indeks & buku teks.

- Sekiranya nota ni ada dalam
buku rujukan, boleh fotostat.
- Ringkasan tajuk hormon seperti
berikut, sila take note ye:

HORMONE REMARKS
FSH Akan jumpa semula dalam chapter 4, tajuk
LH MENSTRUAL CYCLE.
Estrogen
Progesterone
ADH Akan jumpa dalam Unit 3.4, tajuk
Aldosterone OSMOREGULATION.
Adrenaline Akan diguna dalam Unit 3.3, FIGHT OR
FLIGHT SITUATION
Insulin Dah lama kenal…..hihihi…
Glucagon
TIPS (Murid selalu tertukar)

Endocrine gland Hormone Function

Pituitary gland ADH hormone Stimulates kidneys to
reabsorb water from the
collecting tubules.

Adrenal gland Aldosterone Regulate the

reabsorption of sodium
ions in the kidneys.

- Take note:
- Involve different endocrine gland
- Bear in mind, these 2 hormone are important in osmoregulation process.
So memorize its function.

AD H2O reabsorb water

TASK 3

Describe the ways hormones produced:

1) Regulated by another hormone
2) Regulated by level of certain substances
3) Regulated by nervous system

- Refer revision book for details

FIGHT OR FLIGHT SITUATION

• Involve nervous system & endocrine system

• Example:

Seorang budak lelaki dalam perjalanan ke

rumah kawannya. Tiba-tiba, beliau terserempak
dengan seekor anjing yang garang. Terangkan
bagaimana sistem saraf dan sistem endokrin
dikoordinasikan dalam menghadapi situasi
cemas itu.
• Untuk tajuk ni, kita belajar melalui soalan terus. Apa yg
perlu diberi perhatian:
• Follow concept 3.1:
Stimulus: Anjing yang garang
Reseptor: Mata
Impuls dicetuskan.
Pusat kawalan: Sistem saraf pusat (central nervous
system)
Effektor: Kalenjar adrenal
Response: Degupan jantung meningkat, kadar
pernafasan meningkat, glikogen ditukar kepada glukosa
• Keputusan:
budak lari (Flight) ATAU
budak halau anjing (Fight)
• Daripada skema jawapan, cari nervous system &
endocrine system:
• Nervous system:
Receptor
Afferent neurone
Central nervous system (Sistem saraf pusat)
Efferent neurone
• Endocrine system:
Adrenal gland

Sorry, cg ada contoh dlm BM jeee… klu rajin translate….

Make a wise decision!!!!!!
• Rujuk indeks
• No 3 & 4 tu cari sendiri ye….
