Introduction
• Organizations demand efficient solutions to store and analyze big
amount of data
• So, big data technologies can utilize cloud computing to provide
significant benefits
• The Apache Hadoop is enhanced in security and it becomes one
of the most deployed big data infrastructures
• Many researches focus on privacy-preserving data-intensive
applications in cloud computing because of sensitive information

Hadoop And Map/Reduce
MapReduce
Principles of Apache Hadoop : MapReduce
• Simplicity of development
• Scale
• Automatic distribution of work
• Fault tolerance
• Commodity hardware
• Data locality
Why big data needs security?
• Big Data security is the processing of guarding data
and analytics processes, both in the cloud and on-
premise, from any number of factors that could
compromise their confidentiality.
• All the billions of devices that are now Internet-
capable.
• Many of the tools associated with big data and
smart analytics are open source.
• It has the time they are not often designed with
security in mind as a primary function, leading to
yet more big data security issues.
Issues and Challenges of Big Data in Cloud Computing
•Data security not only involves the encryption of the data, but also ensures that
appropriate policies are enforced for data sharing.
•Network level
•Authentication level
•Data level
–Data Storage
–Data Management
–Data Representation
–Risk Detection
–Data Security and Privacy
Proposed Approach
• A technique to secure Hadoop architecture by applying encryption and
decryption functions to the HDFS.
• The proposed approach was used to improve the performance of encryption
/Decryption file by using AES and OTP algorithms integrated on Hadoop.
• Where files are encrypted within the HDFS and decrypted within the Map Task.
• The design of The security service in Hadoop project is simple file permission
and access control mechanisms.
• So, encryption is the best solution for securing HDFS files that stored in Data
nodes and for transferring files among Data nodes while executing MapReduce
jobs.
