2
Multi-Org or multiple organization access (MOAC) is basically the ability to access
multiple operating units from a single application responsibility. In Release 11i, when one
had to enter or process data for multiple operating units, one had to login to different
responsibilities because each responsibility could only access one operating unit. If one
was managing Purchasing for Sweden, Norway and Finland one needed to define three
different responsibilities. In Release 12, we could create a Security Profile and assign as
many operating units as you required. We can tie that security profile to a single
responsibility using a profile option called MO: Security Profile. For example, you could
assign the security profile to the EMEA Purchasing responsibility to allow that responsibility
to process invoices across all three operating units.
Define a security profile in HR using the Security profile form or the Global Security
profile form, and assign all of the operating units that we would want a responsibility to
access. We need to run a concurrent request called “Run Security List Maintenance”
from HR which will make those security profile available and allow one to assign them to
a responsibility via a profile option called MO: Security Profile.

Define a security profile using either of the two forms: Security Profile form or the
Global Security Profile Form that is shown below. Both forms look almost identical
where Security Profile Form allows one to select operating units from only one Business
Group where as Global Security profile Form allows one to select operating units from
multiple Business Groups.

Dual UOM Functionality

11
Even without constant conversion, quantity can be tracked in two Units of Measures.

Transact, reserve, check On-Hand and availability of material in multiple UOM.

For Planning and costing, primary UOM will be used.

Oracle receiving, Shipping Execution, Order Management, Inventory, WMS and the
process manufacturing modules will honor dual UOM

Any other module in e-Business suit or third party tool post transaction via Transaction
Open Interface then default conversion will be used and secondary quantity will not
be indicated.

12
Dual UOM Functionality was available in 11.5.10.2 with very restricted
features.

13
11i Transaction Form where material can be transacted only in Primary UOM.

14
R12 Transaction Form where material can be transacted in Secondary UOM also

Secondary UOM and QTY

which was missing in 11i

15
Material Status Control

16
Material Status control restricts the movement and usage of portions of on-hand inventory.
Lists the allowed and dis allowed transactions.
In addition, you can determine whether products with a particular status can be reserved,
included in available to promise(ATP) calculations, or nettable in production planning.
You can assign material statuses at four levels: sub inventory, locator, lot, and serial.
To enable Material Control at Lot and Serial level you need to check the Lot Status &
Serial Status enable box at Item level.
To enforce Material Status Control feature in your Inventory you need to set a Profile
Option INV:Material Status Support to “Yes”.
Transactions prohibited by status at any level will not be allowed.

17
The following table provides examples of material statuses that you might set
up for your organization.

expired.

Child-Lot: A lot with parent, Parent & Child-lot number can be generated at receipt.

Search for material by Lot or Child Lot. Automatically named lot with concatenation of
parent & sub lot.

Lot Level UOM conversion, Conversions can be created or modified for specific lots.

View Lot level conversions in lot maintenance form

Indivisibility of Lots:: Indivisible lots may be manually split, but other transactions for
partial quantities are prevented.

Lot Genealogy

Lot Genealogy tracks all the relationship between lots and provides lot traceability that
results from inventory transactions, includes all lot splits, merges and translations.

The enhancement is incorporated in the genealogy form to allow user to highlight a

particular item lot on a genealogy tree etc.

Serial Genealogy tracks the transaction and multilevel composition history of any serial
controlled item from receipt to customer sale.

26
Management of Aging of Material
Material aging workflow allows user to be notified about specific date attributes of lot or
serial.

Concurrent request designed to take action on any date attributes like Expiration date, retest
date, maturity date or other types of dates.

Default workflow sends notification, but can be customized to support any functionality.

This workflow can be leveraged to create work orders, send notifications to planners,
update material status or request a movement of expired product to a quarantine or
inspection area.

This functionality is offered in a new concurrent request in Oracle Inventory which can
search for any date attribute of a lot or serial and will initiate the workflow for the lot or
serial if the date attribute is within a user specified range around the current date.

Concurrent request designed to take action on any date attributes like Expiration date, retest
date, maturity date or other types of dates.
27
Material Workbench Enhancements

The Material Workbench has been enhanced so that a user can see material
across
Organizations.

In addition to the summary view, the Workbench allows the user to drill down
into
each of the individual buckets to see detailed information about all material
represented.
