INTEGERS

ADDITION WITH INTEGERS

 Adding two positive integers always yields a
positive sum.
 Adding two negative integers always yields a
negative sum.
 To find the sum of a positive and a negative
integer, subtract and copy the sign of a bigger
number.
WHAT NUMERALS SHOULD FILL IN THE BLANKS?

a) 7+___=0
b) 3+___=1
c) ___+4=(-2)
d) (-3)+2=___
e) (-3)+___=0
f) (-7)+___=3
g) ___+3=(-6)
h) 3+___=4
i) ___+(-2)=(-5)
SUBTRACTION WITH INTEGERS
 If both signs are positive, the answer will be
positive.
 If both signs are negative, the answer will be
negative
 If the signs are different subtract, copy the sign
of the bigger number.
COMPARE THESE DIFFERENCES AND SUMS

1) 8-2 and 8+(-2)

2) 5-5 and 5+(-5)
3) 12-3 and 12+(-3)
4) 6-4 and 6+(-4)
5) 3-1 and 3+(-1)
PERFORM THE FF. SUBTRACTIONS
a) (-7)-6=
b) 4-(-6)=
c) 7-4=
d) 2-8=
e) (-3)-(-8)=
f) (-1)-(-15)=
g) 47-(-100)=
h) -246-345=
i) 30-125=
MULTIPLICATION WITH INTEGERS
 Multiplying two integers with positive signs
yields a positive product.
 Multiplying two integers with negative signs
yields a positive product.
 Multiplying two integers with unlike signs yields
a negative product.
a) 3(-4)=
b) 2(-3)=
c) 5(-7)=
d) -6(-7)=
e) 3(3)=
f) -7(2)=
g) -9(5)=
h) -7(-2)=
DIVISION WITH INTEGERS
 Dividing two integers with positive signs yields a
positive quotient.
 Dividing two integers with negative signs yields
a positive quotient.
 Dividing two integers with unlike signs yields a
negative quotient.
