OBESITY
• OBESITY IS A MEDICAL CONDITION THAT
OCCURS WHEN A PERSON CARRIES EXCESS
WEIGHT OR BODY FAT THAT MIGHT AFFECT
THEIR HEALTH.
• A PERSON WHO HAS OBESITY WILL HAVE A
BMI OF 30 OR OVER.
CAUSE OF OBESITY
• THE BALANCE BETWEEN CALORIE INTAKE AND ENERGY
EXPENDITURE DETERMINES A PERSON'S WEIGHT.
• IF A PERSON EATS MORE CALORIES THAN HE OR SHE
BURNS ,THE PERSON GAINS WEIGHT (THE BODY WILL STORE
THE EXCESS ENERGY AS FAT).
• THEREFORE, THE MOST COMMON CAUSES OF OBESITY ARE
OVEREATING AND PHYSICAL INACTIVITY.
• PHYSICAL INACTIVITY. SEDENTARY PEOPLE BURN FEWER CALORIES THAN PEOPLE WHO ARE
ACTIVE. THE NATIONAL HEALTH AND NUTRITION EXAMINATION SURVEY (NHANES) MAKE AN
EXPERINMENT BETWEEN PHYSICAL INACTIVITY AND WEIGHT GAIN IN BOTH SEXES.

• OVEREATING. FOODS HIGH IN FAT OR SUGAR.FOR EXAMPLE, FAST FOOD, FRIED FOOD, AND
SWEETS HAVE A LOT OF CALORIES IN A SMALL AMOUNT OF FOOD.

CANNOT SIGNAL THE BRAIN TO EAT LESS.
• A DIET HIGH IN SIMPLE CARBOHYDRATES.
CARBOHYDRATES INCREASE BLOOD
GLUCOSE LEVELS, WHICH IN TURN
STIMULATE INSULIN RELEASE BY THE
PANCREAS.

• OBESITY IS A REAL DISEASE THAT CAN BE ROOTED IN THE
BRAIN:
WHEN IT COMES TO OBESITY, THE COMMON BELIEF IS THAT IT’S
SIMPLY DUE TO OVEREATING AND BEING TOO LAZY TO
EXERCISE.
BUT THE TRUTH IS FAR MORE COMPLICATED THAN THAT “AS A
RESULT, YOUR BRAIN DOESN’T REALIZE YOU’RE FULL, SO YOU
KEEP EATING.”
AND ONCE YOU’VE BECOME OVERWEIGHT OR OBESE, YOUR
BODY PRODUCES HORMONES, SUCH AS INSULIN.“SO IT’S NOT

CHILDREN MUST BE EDUCATED IN HEALTHY EATING SO THAT THEY RECOGNISE
THE TYPE OF FOOD THAT IS GOOD FOR THEIR BODIES.TEACHERS CAN
HIGHLIGHT TO PUPILS THE CONNECTION BETWEEN HOME GROWN FOODS.
• MAINTAIN REGULAR CONTACT WITH PARENTS
SCHOOLS NEED TO SUSTAIN REGULAR CONTACT WITH FAMILIES SO THAT THEY
CAN WORK CLOSELY WITH PARENTS TO OVERCOME ANY ISSUES A CHILD MAY
HAVE.
• PROMOTE THE RIGHT MESSAGES
IT'S IMPORTANT FOR SCHOOLS TO CONTINUE TO PROMOTE THE RIGHT
MESSAGES TO PUPILS WHEN IT COMES TO HEALTHY LIFESTYLES. SCHOOLS
THAT PROMOTE HEALTHY EATING BUT REWARD CHILDREN WITH SWEETS MAY
BE SENDING OUT THE WRONG MESSAGE.
