Evaluation of my music

magazine
Emma Tierney
kept it simple and in my opinion professional.
I wanted my magazine to look as realistic as possible, so for my layout I
For my front cover I used drop shadow for
my title, to make it stand out against the
background. I chose a light back ground
so any text or images would grab attention
and the front cover wouldn't look too busy.
The main image I used for my front cover
was a photo taken on my photo shoot, I
then edited the photo to make it look more
professional and edgy. I made the title
white, as I thought it would be eye
catching against the dark shadow outline. I
chose an orange colour for the sub
headings because I tried to match some of
the colour from the hair on the image. If I
was re-doing my front cover, I think I
would improve it by adding a bar code,
date and price to make it look a lot more
realistic.
For my contents I made the image black
and white so the red writing could contrast
more strongly against the background and
stand out more. I think my contents page
looks quite professional, however if I was
re-doing it, I would maybe add more
information and pictures as in my opinion it
is quite empty.
• For my double page I decided to use
black and white and blue, trying to
keep my magazine layout
continuous. I made the text blue so
that it was just black and boring, also
I wanted it to be easy to read.
• The pictures I chose where the ones
I thought looked most professional ,
however if I was going to re-do my
magazine the pictures in the bottom
right hand corner would be bigger
and laid out in a ore aesthetic way.
• My magazine represents a wide range of social groups as I tried
to make my magazine not focused on one music type. I have
elements of rap, pop, rock and indie. I used my layout to show the
different aspects of these music scenes.
• To distribute my magazine I would choose IPC media, as they are
the publishers of NME, and I think my magazine would be very
different to NME, so there wouldn’t be much competition between
them.
• The audience for my magazine would be, 16-21 year olds who are
interested in music ad music events, that have a wide taste in
music.
• I think I have attracted my target audience by , creating a
magazine that is different but looks interesting and edgy enough
to attract a wide variety of people.
• I have learnt how to use professional digital cameras and studio
lights (red head lights), also by using photo shop to create my
magazine, I have learnt how to edit photos and build magazine
layouts.
• From creating my college magazine, I have learnt how to use
photo shop more effectively and know, what makes a magazine
look good and stand out.
