Background
• Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) was established on 1st
January 1997
• It was known previously as Gombak District Council (MDG) which
was established under the Local Government Act 1976, Act 171.
• MDG was born out of a series of development for several
‘previous Local Government Authorities such as :-

 Gombak Township Board


 Rawang Township Board
 Kuala Ampang Township Board
 Taman Keramat PKNS Area
 Batu Caves Industrial Area
Vision
Selayang Municipal Council as leader in excellent
management towards sustainable municipality by year
2020

Strengthening municipal management to all Selayang
residents through 5 star services towards the
establishment of prosperous community

 Giving and Improving Municipal Services

Function
• To provide basic township services in compliance with Act
171, Act 133 and Act 172.
• To be the effective agent for physical, economics and social
development in line with the State and Federal Government
policies.
Local Plan Area
• Local Plan is a long-term plan that defines direction
and pattern future development of an area.
• Local Plan is a statutory document prepared under
the Planning Act Town and Country, 1976 (Act 172)
