MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE
GUIDANCE COUNSELLOR

• The Guidance and Counselling Department of the Waterford Infant School


take this opportunity to welcome all our new parents. We would like to
recognize and applaud your continued efforts to ensure your child/ward does
not lack the opportunity for their educational and developmental needs,
especially in light of the challenges that have been experienced due to the
Covid-19 pandemic. We recognize that now more than ever partnering with and
supporting you is vitally important. ‘Let us embark on this journey together for
the benefit of our children’s future.”
CORONA VIRUS
The Corona Virus is a respiratory illness that normally presents the
following symptoms:
Fever
Dry cough
Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
Loss of taste
Vomiting
Abdominal pain
Joint or muscle pain
KEY MESSAGE

A person can transmit COVID-19 even if he/she has no


symptoms (Asymptomatic).

It is important that you protect yourself and others by


practising the general health and safety protocols.
HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS

Some general health and safety protocols include:


• Avoid touching your face (eyes, nose and mouth).
• Avoid spitting in public, cover mouth when you cough and
sneeze.
• Wear a mask in public.
• Stay at least 6 feet away from others (Physical distancing).
• Wash hands/sanitize routinely.
CHILD ENGAGEMENT TIPS

Talk to your child/ward about what is happening around them.

Check their mood and emotional state regularly.

Monitor children behaviour so that you can become aware of any


changes.

Ensure children have adequate social interaction with peers (remotely).

Monitor your child/ward use of technological devices.

Create a school-like routine for your child.


Engage them in learning activities/games.
Teach children about rights and responsibilities.
Do something nice for your child regularly.
Affirm your children.
Assure and reassure them that they are loved.
Plan at least 30 minutes for leisure/recreation/exercise activities.
SELF CARE TIPS FOR PARENTS

This speaks to any activity that we do on purpose in order to


take care of our mental, emotional and physical health.

In order to help your child/children to maximize their full


potential you must ensure that you are well holistically.

It is important to pace your self.

Stay connected to friends and family members.

Have someone you can talk to or confide in.

Engage in activities you enjoy.

Exercise and diet properly.

Never forget to pray.
