HEADLIGHT ALLIGNMENT WITH

STEERING SYSTEM
ABSTRACT

The project here is all about Front wheel steering system with moveable headlights with latest electronics
technology.
The most conventional steering arrangement is to turn the front wheels using a hand–operated steering
wheel which is positioned in front of the driver, via the steering column, which may contain universal joints
to allow it to deviate somewhat from a straight line. Other arrangements are sometimes found on different
types of vehicles, for example, a tiller or rear–wheel steering. Tracked vehicles such as tanks usually employ
differential steering — that is, the tracks are made to move at different speeds or even in opposite directions
to bring about a change of course.
As for Indian road transport scenario is concerned, accidents are becoming a day to day cause an attempt
has been made in this project to reduce such mishaps. In our project of “AUTOMATIC HEAD LAMP
ALIGNMENT SYSTEM” having the following operation occurs automatically in the vehicle. They are,

1. Automatic head light left and right alignment depends upon the vehicle moves in left and right
direction
2. The head light in steady position for the vehicle in normal condition.
INTRODUCTION
Car safety is the avoidance of automobile accidents or the minimization of
harmful effects of accidents, in particular as pertaining to human life and health.
Special safety features have been built into cars for years, some for the safety of
car's occupants only, and some for the safety of others.
This is an era of automation where it is broadly defined as replacement of
manual effort by mechanical power in all degrees of automation. The operation
remains an essential part of the system although with changing demands on physical
input as the degree of mechanization is increased.

Degrees of automation are of two types, viz.

• Full automation.
• Semi automation.
EXISTING STEERING SYSTEM

Part of steering mechanism: tie rod, steering arm, king pin.

WORKING PRINCIPLE
AT NORMAL CONDITION:-
The rack and pinion steering is in straight line, so that the head light frame is in straight
line. The head light frame is made up of mild steel pipe materials.

AT LEFT SIDE TURNING TIME:-

The rack and pinion steering turn the left direction, so that the head light frame moves in
the same left side by using hinges mechanism. Head light is drawn supplies from the already
charged 12 voltage lead-acid battery.

AT RIGHT SIDE TURNING TIME:-

The rack and pinion steering turn the right direction, so that the head light frame moves in
the same right side by using hinges mechanism.

STEERING

Steering in vehicle is used to change the direction of the

wheel. Steering shown in the above figure is used in this
project.
HEAD LAMP

Liver mechanism:
When we turn the steering, it will shift the lever in left and right direction. This
is called the liver mechanism.
ADVANTAGES

• To provide smooth and safety ride.
• To provide mind free ride for the motorist.
• To provide the nation with an accident free roads.
• Low Cost Automation Project
• The head lamp aligns in two directions (Left, right).
APPLICATIONS
This system can be used in heavy moving vehicles such as buses and trucks etc.
Thus it can be useful for the following types of vehicles;
1) MARUTI,
2) AMBASSADOR,
3) FIAT,
4) MAHINDRA,
5) TATA
CONCLUSION

Thus we implemented and developed our new model “HEAD LAMP

ALIGNMENT WITH STEERING” successfully. We also achieve more
advantages over existing model in this project. During this project we learnt how to
manage time and cost problems.
We gained a lot of practical knowledge regarding, planning, purchasing,
assembling and machining while doing this project work. We feel that the project
work is a good solution to bridge the gates between institution and industries.
We are proud that we have completed the work with the limited time
successfully. The “HEAD LAMP ALIGNMENT WITH STEERING” is working
with satisfactory conditions.
