Present tense is tenses that are


used when a scene takes place
at present or events that took
place (habits). The tenses is the
most commonly used in English.

• Habitual action
RUMUS SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
Subject Verb The rest of the sentence
I/ You/ They/ We go To the school by bus
She/ He/ It goes To the school by bus

1. For a verb ending ( O,CH, SH, X, Z, tambahkan ES)


• Go- goes
• Catch- cathes
• Wash- washes
• Box- boxes
• Fix- fixes
2. For a verb that terminates consonants + y, hilangkan Y, dan tambahkan IES.
• carry- carries
• Study-studies
• Worry-worries
• Marry-marries
Form :
(+) S + V₁ (e/es) + O
(-) S + do not/does not + V₁ + O
(?) do not/does not + S + V₁ + O ?

PRESENT TENSE
1. Simple present tense to show the current events:
a. I take the motorcycle to the office
b. The train to Bekasi leaves every hour
c. Yogi sleeps seven hours every night during the week
2. Simple present tense to present a fact:
d. The president of Indonesia is Joko Widodo
e. Indonesia has 34 provinces, from Sabang to Merauke
3. Simple present tense to suggest a habit:
f. Doni gets early at 5 o’clock every day
g. John takes a bat twice a day

SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE AFFIRMATIVE

To form a simple present tense affirmative, the formula is:


s + verb (1) / verb dasar/ to be (are, am, is) +O
Example:
• She reads Harry potter book everyday
• They watch new movies every sunday
SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE NEGATIF

To form a simple present tense negative , usually using the addition don’t know doesn’t
before the verb, except to be and capital, the formula is:
S + don’t/ doesn’t + verb (1) + O
Example:
• She doesn’t read Harry potter book everyday
• They don’t watch new movies every sunday
SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE INTEROGATIVE

To form a simple sentence pesent tense question, usually using an additional do or does in front of
the sentence. The formula is:
do/ does + s + verb (1) + O
The word do is used if the subjects is used if the subjects is I,you,they, or we. Howover, the word
does is used if the subject is the third person form (she, he, it).
Example:
• does she read harry potter book?
• Do they watch new movie everyday?
• Do you play basketball every morning?
