Contract Numbering:
Contract Numbering method specifies if you must enter the contract number manually or if it is generated automatically based on the numbering level
and the document sequence category that you specify.

Prerequisite: Specify document numbering sequences for the category of global, ledger, legal entity or business unit level to enable automatic contract
numbering on contracts.

If you select the manual method, requiring contract authors to enter a unique contract number each time they author a contract, then no further setup is
required.

If you want contracts to be numbered automatically, then you must:

Select a contract numbering level. The default contract numbering level is business unit for a contract that is not project-based.
Select a contract sequence category for the specified numbering level. This requires the setup of a document sequence category and a document
sequence as described in related topics. Use the following values for your setup.

Setup: specify manual or automatic numbering for contracts of each contract type using the Manage Contract Types action from the Setup and
Maintenance work area.
