WHAT IS HABIT
PSYCHOLOGICALLY
In general there is no specific definition of
habits, therefore it defined as the act that people
continued/depend on and returned to it again
and again.
It also has defined that it is a repeated action
which people doing without planning.

A habit is defined as a way of behaving that is
repeated so often.
This mean that habit can be accepted a
characteristic for individual either it is positive or
negative habit.

OCCUPATIONALLY
It can be defined that always ready to perform
the work movably or physically or morally, this
could be adequate and immediate in applying.
Ex: swimming with breathing, reading with
thinking.
 generally, there are good and bad habits. For
example, person has positive or negative or both
at the same time.

TYPES OF HABITS

1- Dynamic habits:
It is a dynamic activity or any work done by an
individual, such as walking, writing. Ex: measuring
temperature and pressure in nursing.
2- Ideological habits: 
It is a kind of performance and the ability to use
intellectual skill and apply the facts. such as, analysis
and conclusion.

3- Interactive habits: 
in this case, suddenly changing behavior and sometimes
you can see physical changes as well. Ex: angry.
4- Moral habits:
the appearance of this habit refers to childhood, may be
bad or good habits, for example, they must respect and
kindness to the others.

PRACTISE IN PROFESSION
 Professional health workers understand that they can
play main role in their fields to improve the patients'
situations by giving some advices or guiding them and
this let them to feel better psychologically.

WORKERS TO ADHERE TO:

1- respect visitors
2- able to work as a group
3- arrangement and coordination.
4- Commitment (be on time)
5- awareness and active
6- calm and emotional

METHODS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF
HABITS:
Everyone has its own habits, and habits lead a vital purpose
in the life of the individual, which help him to its
compatibility (suitable) with the outside community that
deals with it.
There are several ways to develop habits, including:

1.The ability to precisely control.

2. Take responsibility and its estimation.

3. Cooperation with the community.

1. Religious rules:
One of the oldest rules known to human that has
a very large effect on humans is religion. The
major role in coming religions is to evaluate
habits and establish good habits.

are the rules that are important to ethics and
habits of the individual.

MOTIVATION
• "The term motivation refers to factors that activate, direct,
and support the behavior in order to earn the special
goals". (Nevid, 2013)
Motivation is generally defined as the force that compels us
to action. It drives us to work hard and pushes us to succeed.
Motivation influences our behavior and our ability to
achieve goals.

Motives are the answer of "whys“ question of behavior -


the needs or wants that drive behavior and explain why we
do.

 There are many different forms of motivation.


 Each one influences behavior in its own unique way.
 No single type of motivation works for everyone.
 People’s personalities vary.

1- Incentive (encouraging)
A form of motivation that involves prizes, both monetary
and nonmonetary is often called incentive motivation.
Many people are driven by the knowledge that they will
be rewarded in some manner for achieving a certain
target or goal. Examples: bonuses and promotions.

2- Fear
Fear motivation involves consequences. This type of
motivation is often one that is utilized when incentive
motivation fails.

 Punishment or negative consequences are a form of


fear motivation. This type of motivation is commonly
used to motivate students in the education system and
also frequently in a professional setting to motivate
employees. If we break the rules or fail to achieve the set
goal, we are penalized in some way.

3- Achievement
Achievement motivation is also commonly referred to as
the drive for competency. We are driven to achieve
goals and tackle new challenges. We desire to improve
skills and prove our competency both to others and to
ourselves. Generally, this feeling of accomplishment and
achievement is essential (core)in nature.

4- Growth
The need for self-improvement is truly an internal
motivation.

5- Power
The motivation of capacity can either take the form of a
desire for autonomy or other desire to control others around
us.

6- Social
Many people are motivated by social factors. This may
be a desire to suit and to be accepted by a specific group
or a desire to relate to the people in our sphere or in the
larger world. We have an innate need to feel a connection
with others.

FACTORS INFLUENCING THE
BEHAVIOUR
There are 4 main types of factors influencing behavior:
I. Cultural factors:
Culture is one of the main factors that impact the
individual behaviour.
Ex: in the East, it is common to invite colleagues or friends
at home for a drink or dinner. While, in Japan, on the
contrary, invite someone to home does not usually fit. It is
preferable to do that this kind of outing with friends or
colleagues in restaurant.

II. Social factors:
Social factors are among the factors influencing individual
behavior significantly. They fall into three categories:
reference groups, families and social roles and status.

III. Personal factors:
Decisions and behavior are obviously also influenced by
the characteristics of individual.
Age, Lifestyle, self-concept

IV. Psychological factors:


Among the factors influencing behavior, psychological
factors can be divided into 4 categories: motivation,
perception, learning as well as beliefs and attitudes.
