Production of VINYL SULPHONE DYE
• These
  dyes were first introduced by
HOECHST(now Dystar) and STILL MARKETE under
the name REMAZOL and contain a
β-SULPHATOETHYLSULPHONE grouping that,
Under alkaline conditions, eliminates bisulphate
anion producing a vinyl sulphone group.
• The general formula of these dyes may be written as
D CH= .
Generalized Manufacturing Process Of Vinyl
Sulphone
• It is manufactured from sulphonyl chloride.
Arylsulphonyl chloride under goes reduction
Zinc and acetic acid to corresponding
sulphonic acid which is reacted with ethylene
oxide in presence of alkali giving
β-hydroxyethyl sulphone and subsequently
sulphonated to yield a vinyl sulphone derivative.
Where:R=protected or phenolic group
CHROME BLUE BLACK
• The chrome blue black are the mordant group of dyes, in
which mordant is required for dying process. Mordant for
chrome blue black dye is potassium dichromate.
• Uses: it is mainly use for wool febric and slik and nylon after
chrome dying.it is also use for shades of black to navy blue.
• Disadvantage: it has disadvantage that range of shades is
limited.
• Here is the examle of the chrome blue black are
Manufacturing process
• RAW MATERIALS:- 1-amino-2-naphthol-4-
sulfonic acid(1,2,4-acid)or its derivatives,β-
naphthol, caustic soda, sodium
nitrate,HCL,salt,water,cupper sulphate
• Chemical reaction:
diazotization
1,2,4 ACID Diazonium salt of 1,2,4-acid

  2+ 𝐻𝐶𝐿

Coupling with
Chrome Blue Black Beta-napthol
alkali
Flow diagram
• It has main two steps:-
1)Diazotization and coupling
2)purification and separation:-
:: yield: 80-85%(3500kg of chrome blue black is obtation
using 1200kg 1,2,4 –Acid.)
