o The most frequent use of can in conversation is to talk about possibility.

Can and can’t (ability or possibility)


o Can is a modal verb. Modal verbs have the same form for all subjects and are followed by the base form of the verb. In questions, they
do not take an auxiliary and they come before the subject.
 
Statements
o Subject + can / can’t + base form of the verb = We can take a ferry.
 
Information questions
o Question word + can + subject + base form of the verb ? Examples:
  - What can you see in New York?
Yes-No questions - He can’t take pictures in the rain.
o Can + subject + base form of the verb ? = Can we get an umbrella? - Can we get a sightseeing tour?
