MS TEAMS

Download and login to MS Teams
FOR DESKTOPS AND LAPTOPS

 Go to Office.com on your web browser.


 Sign in with your school email and password.
 If asked, select “Work or school account”.

 Select Teams app.

 Selecting “Get the Windows app” will download the app on your computer or mobile device.

 Selecting “Use the web app instead” will open a new browser.

FOR MOBILE DEVICES

 Go to app store.
 Search for “Microsoft Teams”
 Download the app.
 Sign-in with your school email and password.
Class or Teams
 Once logged-in, you will be directed to the “Teams” page.
 Every class will have individual “Teams”.
 Click on your class.
Class or Teams
 Default channel is “General”.

 Each channel have different tabs: Posts, Files, Class Notebook, etc.

 For Mobile
 For Desktop:

 Press “General” to see Posts, Files, and More.

 Where you send chat messages.

 Click on compose icon to format your chat message with a subject title and body.

Files Tab
 Where you create and save classroom resources.
 “Class Materials” folder is where Teachers can save files that are READ ONLY.

 IMPORTANT: Create and save materials using MS Web. Do not select “Upload” then select file from your local computer.

 Click “New”.
 No need to save your work. It is always on auto-save. When you are
 Select the type of file. done creating your file. Click “Close” button.

 You will be able to view your resource on the Files tab, under the
specified folder.

 Enter the file name and click “Create”.

 Go to app store and search for “Microsoft Office”.

 Download the app. Sign-in with your school email and password.

 On Home screen, you will see all your latest files.

 If you need to find older files, tap on the folder icon.

 If you need to create a new file, click on the “+” sign

 If you tap on a current file, it will immediately open on your device. Again, no need to save. It will always
auto-save once you close the file.

 If you tap on the folder icon, it will open on your recent folders. Select the folder and file.

 NOTE: You cannot see “Class Materials” folder.

 If you tap on “+” sign, select “Documents”.

 Select the file type.  When done, select “…”.  Type the file name. Select the folder
destination.

 Click “Save”.
Channels
 Channels are dedicated to specific week or topics. It helps organize the class modules and group projects.
 Tabs on the added channel are different from “General”.

Assignments
 When the teacher creates an assignment, there are several places where you can access it.

 ASSIGNMENTS ICON: Click on Assignments icon.

 POSTS TAB: A chat notification will be posted on the selected channel.

 ASSIGNMENTS TAB: On “General” channel, click on Assignments tab. Expand “Assigned”.

 Assignment instructions and points will be shown.

 Click on “Add work” to do your assignment.

 You will be asked to either upload, add new, or add link. Select appropriate.

 Click “Turn in” or “Hand in” when you are ready to submit your assignment.

 You can always “Undo turn in” if you want to make revisions, if the due date has not yet passed.
Calendar
 Check your calendar regularly to keep up to date on upcoming class meetings.

 It will show all your class schedules.

 Start meeting for desktop:

 Open the meeting.


 Click “Join” button.
 Click “Join Now”. Make sure that video and audio are turned on.

 Go to “Details” tab.

 There are several tools you can use during the meeting.

 Blur your background.

 To show the chat window, click the message icon.

 Use this to engage students to participate. Students can use this to answer your questions.

 It is recommended for desktop users to keep this window open since


chat notification might not pop-up.

 To show who is attending the meeting, click the people icon.

 Class meetings can be recorded. Both audio and video will be recorded.

 Your teacher should inform you if recording is starting.

 A link of the recording will be automatically sent to the Post tab.

 It may take a while to see the recording on the Post tab, especially if the recording was long.

 Share application for desktop:

 To share your desktop or a specific application, click on the share icon.

 Check “Include system audio” (just in case you want to share a video from your desktop).

 Desktop: All opened applications.

 Window: Application you will choose.

 PowerPoint: List of PowerPoint files saved under General and channel.

 Whiteboard is also available.

 Click Whiteboard icon.

 Start drawing.

 Click on the share icon.

 Share PowerPoint: List of PowerPoint files saved under General and channel.

 Share Photo: Photos on your camera roll.

 Share video: Your video camera will be turned on.

 Share screen: Mobile screen and applications

 Share application for mobile:

 If you choose “Share screen”, a prompt will show saying that everything on your screen will be shared.

 Tap “Start Broadcast”.

 Tap outside the prompt to go back to MS Teams while


sharing your screen.
