PROBLEM: NO POWER

System Unit has no indication of any


Power coming from the outlet.
Monitor and System Unit Power LED
is not working, system fan and CPU
fan is not working also when power
button is pressed

Check the
System Unit if
properly plug
to correct
outlet or if the
AVR is power
ON
STEPS:
1. Power ON the ATX
power supply unit at
back panel and
check the proper
voltage input if it is a
switching power
supply unit
STEPS:
2. If the AVR is not
working, test the
FUSE at the back
panel using
ohmmeter to test its
continuity. If the AVR
is ok proceed on
testing power cable
STEPS:
3. Test the Power
Cable if working
using multi tester.
Use Ohmmeter
scale to test the
continuity of the
cable.

Check the
System Unit
Power
Button if
working
STEPS:
1. Locate the
Power Button
connector on the
motherboard
front panel pin
configuration
STEPS:
2. Disconnect the
Power button
connector.
STEPS:
3. Short the Pins for
Power button
If the system power
up, fix or replace the
power button, if
nothing happens,
proceed to next step

Reset the
CMOS
battery. Make
sure it will be
set back to
normal mode.
STEPS:
1. Locate the CMOS
jumper on the
motherboard and set
the jumper to clear
mode.
STEPS:
2. Set back the
jumper to normal
mode and power on
the system unit. If
nothing happens
proceed on testing
the Power Supply
Unit.

Test the ATX
Power Supply
Unit using
paper clip
and Multi-
tester
STEPS:
1. Short the GREEN
PIN (POWER ON) and
any BLACK PIN
(GROUND) on the 20
or 24 pins ATX main
connector using
paper clip.
STEPS:
2. Power On the ATX
PSU and see if the
fan will work. If fan is
not working, use
multi tester to test
each pins
STEPS:
3. Set the selector
range to 50v DC and
Test the 4 pin peripheral
power connector using
multi-tester. If there is
no response on the
multi-tester, replace the
power supply unit
