• A false ceiling is nothing but a layer of insulation.
• It is suspended ceiling between the main ceiling and
room.

INTRODUCTION: • The suspension is fixed to the walls roof or beams


of the superstructure.
• Most of the materials is easily cut to allow fixtures
in other shapes like wood ,metal ,plastic ,gypsum
,pop ,mineral fiberboards.
• It helps in hiding structural elements and improve
the aesthetics of any room or home.
• It acts as a heat insulator.
PURPOSE OF • It provides an acoustical barrier which helps in

CEILING: • These ceiling panels offer fire safety and moisture


resistance features as well.
• The insulating effect of suspended ceilings panels
may help lower home heating or cooling bills.
• A ceiling helps to cool the room.
• When the height of the room is too much ,providing

ADVANTAGES • Reducing the height also helps in reducing the

1.PLASTER OF PARIS:

• POP simply means plaster of paris a type of


ceiling that originated from France.
• Use of a white powder for molding the ceiling
into any form and pattern.
• Usually finished with application of paints.
• White paints are the most predominant choice
when pop ceilings are used.
INSTALLATION:

• Fixing the framework directly to the beams or


structural ceiling.
• Fixing the wall support and angle support.
• Fixing suspended framework on the supporting
members.
• Fix the wire mesh with screws in the framework.
• Now put the pop with hand at standing on the
scaffholding.
• After the installation of pop it would be finished
with the any paint as per the design.
ADVANTAGES:

• It is light in weight and more durable.


• It has low thermal conductivity.
• It is very good fire resistant and a very good heat insulating material.
• It mixes up easily with water and is easy to spread and level.
• It can easily be moulded into any shape.
DISADVANTAGES:

• It is more expensive than cement or cement lime plaster.


• It cannot be used in moist situations
• Skilled labor is required for precise application and thus labor cost for applying plaster of paris is
high.
• Cracks developed after passage of time.
