Chiller System
Control
Strategies
Cooling Tower VSD Controls
Calculation of Wet Bulb temperature based on OA
Dry Bulb Temperature and RH
Condenser water supply setpoint = actual wetbulb + 2.4 deg C
Max setpoint is set at 29 C
Respective cooling towers supply temperature
Compares against setpoint to control VSD speed

Minimum VSD is set at 20 Hz

In the event Condenser water supply temperature

Drops less than 27 deg C after a delay cooling tower VSDs
Will be set to 0 Hz

All fans will be stopped but inlet and outlet valves will remain
OPEN
Condenser Pump Controls

Condenser pumps speed is set for constant design flow to the Chiller

Chilled Water Pump Controls

LT and HT system have its own DP sensors

LT DP is at
AHU B1-3
AHU B3-1
PAHU 17-3

HT DP is at
PAHU 5-4
PAHU 17-3
Chiller Controls

LT System

Stage 1 - 2 x1000 RT Chiller (SCF)

Stage 2- 4 x 1000 RT Chiller (SCF)

ACS-LTCH-L5-1/4 ( 9 to 13.5 C) & ACS-LTCH-L5-2/4 Lead ( 13.5 to 18 C)

ACS-LTCH-L5-3/4 ( 9 to 13.5 C) & ACS-LTCH-L5-4/4 Lead ( 13.5 to 18 C)

In the event ACS-LTCH-L5-2/4 or ACS-LTCH-L5-4/4 is required to run

by itself the Leaving Chilled water setpoint is changed to 9 C automatically.

The system can be programmed to to run 1 x 1000 RT LT chiller.

During this operation the other SCF chiller will be stopped but
The condenser and chilled water MV will be OPENED for chilled water
And conndeser water to flow through.
HT System

Stage 1 - 1 x 500 RT Chiller ( 15 to 20 C)

Stage 2 - 1 x 1000 RT Chiller ( 15 to 20 C)
Stage 3 - 1 x 1000 RT + 1 x 500 RT Chiller ( 15 to 20 C)

When Both HT and LT system is in operation

MV-CHW-BP 9 AND BP10 is CLOSED

When LT system if OFF and HT is serving LT area

MV-CHW-BP 9 AND BP10 is OPENED

When HT is serving LT area, the chw Leaving setpt is set at 9 C
