youth in Jomvu and Changamwe Sub-Counties within Mombasa County.

 What’s the Problem?
• Why Bright-side community empowerment?
The youth and the community are still in the dark; stack into their
comfort zones! Dreams are shuttered, hope is lost in life, much time is
wasted in drugs and substance abuse, no job opportunities and some
being recruited to join militia groups as an alternative.
 Our Approach
We as JRC.C.B.O champions attitude change, unlock potentials,
nature talents and bring back hope for brighter future in the
community
The adversely change in technology has raised concern and need to
literate our youth and the community at Large thus our project title;
DIGITAL ABI-LITERACY which means “DIGITAL ABILITY
TOWARDS LITERACY”

A significant goal that JRC C.B.O has achieved & the influence in the community.
2017 Our greatest achievement is the establishment of a permanent structure where
we can hugely interact with the youth and community at large.

 Barriers To Our Successes'

• Inadequate equipment's to fulfill the trainers need during training programs with students

• Our clients/students from vulnerable background can not afford to pay the little amount
meant to motivate the trainers and maintain our services.

• Offering unrecognizable certificates by Examination body such as KNEC has negatively

affected the turnout of the students hence need for the center upgrade for recognition is
paramount.
 Equipment's Needed & Use
1) Camera and its accessories (lenses, tripod, sound machine): Training youth on Cinematography, (Feature films,
Local TV dramas, Documentaries, Vox pops/ Interviews & weddings).

2) White board: For teaching/training purposes and Key requirement in “smart-link display”

3) Computers: Computer Aided Teaching/Computer Aided Learning in computer applications, Graphic & Video
Editing, Essential equipment in outreach programs, training

4) Projector: Key requirement in “smart-link display” for visual display on outreach programs, training &
Showcasing of the projects successfully done by the students and their trainers.

5) Printer: preparing hardcopies for presentation, handout for youths being trained and those that we may
encounter during the outreach programs.
 Security of the Equipment

1. Bugler proof: The permanent structure doors & windows have been bugler proofed
& with top security locks hindering ease access to an authorized
personnel.
2. Solar security light: installation of solar security light that act as back-up during power
blackout.
3. Security officer: Security guard from the county Government who’s in charge of the
ECD extends his services to our Centre during the night.
