CHAPTER III
METHODOLOGY

This chapter deals with the


fundamental elements of the
research process. It comprises the
method used research respondents,
sampling procedure, research
locale, research instruments, data
gathering, and scoring procedure.
RESEARCH RESPONDENTS
The subjects of the study were the Grade
9 students of Philippine Southfield
School Villa Trinitas Subdivision, Bugo,
and Cagayan de Oro City. There are two
sections for the Grade 9 level comprises
sixty-two (62) students, but there are
only forty-seven (47) respondents
therefore when conducting the survey
some students were absent.
SAMPLING PROCEDURE

The Grade 9 students in


Philippine Southfield School
were taken as respondents.
Hence, no sampling will be
done in the study.
RESEARCH LOCALE
 The study was conducted in Philippine Southfield
School. It is located in Northern Mindanao, City of
Golden Friendship, and Cagayan de Oro City. The school
is located in Bugo, Cagayan de Oro City and is being
headed by Mrs. Milagros P. Ortigas. There are five
hundred and sixty-four (564) students that comprised in
the school. Of the 564 students, 62 are the Grade 9 the
students and the Grade 9 students were the respondents
of the said study.
RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS
 The researchers chose to conduct a survey for their data
collection instrument. The researchers provided their
respondents a survey-questionnaire that consisted eight
(8) questions that were strategically formulated to
acquire the most valuable information. The questions
consisted of open-ended and closed-ended questions that
provided the researchers information about the
respondents’ feelings, time spent and insight on mobile
internet
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

 The researchers asked permission from their subject


teacher of that time in accordance with the vacant time
of the teachers. The researchers conduct the study at
Philippine Southfield School, Villa Trinitas Subdivision,
Bugo Cagayan de Oro City Misamis Oriental. The
questionnaires were administered personally by the
researchers to the respondents in Grade 9 during their
recess time. The respondents will be asked to answer the
item of the survey.
CHAPTER 4
PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS, AND PRESENTATION OF
DATA

 The researchers were able to gather data through


the survey questionnaires given to the forty-
seven (47) Grade 9 students about their time
spent on mobile internet. The following
illustrations shows the answers to the open-
ended questions found in the survey as provided.

 The graph above shows that nineteen out of forty-seven


(19 out of 47) students answered yes; from time to time
they get bored listening to their teacher and the lessons.
While twenty-eight out of forty-seven (18 out of 45)
respondents answered no.

 The illustration graph above shows that twenty nine out of forty
seven (29 out of 47) respondents in Grade 9 spends three to ten
hours when using internet in a day. The respondents consume 3-10
hours in a day due to having brought home schoolwork and being
bored in class hours. Others claim they only use mobile data and
internet if there is no class occasionally it is because of boredom for
the most part on weekends. In addition four out of forty-seven
respondents spends eleven and above hours, and nine out of forty-
seven answered depending on the situation.

 The graph above shows that in Question no. 3 thirty out


of forty-seven (30 out of 47) respondents spends mostly
3-10 hours, since they have free time they use mobile
phones and surf on the internet and play online games, in
addition ten out of forty-seven answered one to two
hours after they do house chores, or depending on the
mood.

doesn’t have internet at home due to financial problem
and while others have internet because their parents can
afford to pay internet/ WIFI.

 The graph shows that thirty-five out of forty seven (35


out of 47) in grade 9 respondents answered yes, because
a few utilize their phones searching for possible
definition on a specific word mentioned and some
lessons where unknown words are used, and part of the
activities that the teacher gives to their students require
immediate research.

 As observed they usually get bored if they don’t use


internet for a day because internet can entertain them as
much as they want , considering that internet provide all
entertainment in just one click, but others they feel
awkward when using mobile internet because they are
not used to it, or they do not have any personal phones.
