The document discusses different types of cabling used for networking, including UTP, twisted pair, and thin coax cabling. It explains that straight-through cables are used to connect devices to hubs or switches, while crossover cables connect hubs or switches together. Twisted pair cabling in a star topology is commonly used for networks and supports speeds up to Fast Ethernet. Thin coax cabling can be used for small home or office networks by connecting computers in a chain using coaxial cable and T-connectors.

:- When you check air pressure in a tyre, a little air always escapes; the process of making the measurement changes the quantity being measured. Think of other examples of measurements that change or disturb the quantity being measured.

CABLES USED FOR DIFFERENT PURPOSES Straight-through cables are used for connecting computers to a hub. Crossed cables are used for connecting a hub to another hub (the exception to this is when some hubs have the built-in uplink port that is crossed internally, which allows you to uplink

UTP Implementation Straight-through cable: Wires on cable ends are in same order Cross-over cable: The orange wire pair and the green wire pair switch places on one end of the cable Roll-over cable

UTP Implementation Use straight-through cables for the following connections: Switch to router Switch to PC or server Hub to PC or server
Use crossover cables for the following connections:
Switch to switch Switch to hub Hub to hub Router to router PC to PC Router to PC

In a twisted-pair network, computers are arranged in a star pattern as mentioned earlier.

TWISTED PAIR TWISTED PAIR (also known as 10BaseT) is ideal for small, medium, or large networks that need flexibility and the capacity to expand as the number of network users grows. 10BaseT cabling looks very similar to that of common telephone cable, although instead four (4) wires, there are eight (8wisted-pair (also known as 10BaseT) is ideal for small, medium, or large networks

TWISTED PAIR There are different grades, or categories, of twisted-pair cabling. Category 5 is the most reliable and widely compatible, and is recommended by most network designers. It runs easily with 10Mbps networks, and is required for Fast Ethernet

Thin Coax Cabling Thin coax (also known as 10Base2) is great for small home or office networks with two or three computers. Similar to the cabling used to connect a VCR to a TV set, coax cabling is inexpensive and easy to set up and does not require a hub. In a thin coax network, which is sometimes called a backbone, computers are arranged in a "chain" with a beginning an . Each computer in a backbone requires a network card, a T-connector, and at least one incoming or outgoing coax cable.
