BELIEFS AND PRACTICES

• Karim claims to belong from the Muslim community but he finds it difficult to
adhere to his religious practices due to his back-breaking profession
• He loves his motherland Bangladesh and wishes to contribute anything within
his power for the welfare of his country
POLITICAL VIEWS

• Karim shows his support for Bangladesh Nationalist Party- BNP and adores
Begum Khaleda Zia
• Despite his support for BNP, he acknowledge the achievements of the current
ruling party
FAMILY

• Karim Miah has a wife who supplements the family income by working as a
maid servant in 4 houses
• This couple has a school going daughter of age 7
• The parents of both Karim Miah and his wife live in village
LIVELIHOOD

• Karim Miah is from Pachdana, Narshingdhi

• He lives with his family in a small room in Kuril for which he has to provide
a rent of 3,000 tk per month

• He also needs to provide 40 tk per day for his rickshaw license plate
• He spends around 100 tk a day on his breakfast, lunch and dinner arrangements

• He spends 8,000 tk per month on the expenditures of his family
• He deposits 1,000 tk to the bank
