We welcome you all to our presentation on the topic ‘Millennium


Development Goals’.

 There are 8 goals


 191 member countries of the United Nations have agreed
Goal 1: Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger

 Halve the proportion of people living on less than a dollar per


day by 2015
 To achieve decent work for all
 Reduce by half the proportion of people who suffer from hunger
Goal 2: Achieve universal primary education

 To ensure that children all over the globe (including both boys
and girls) complete a full course of primary education by 2015
Goal 3: To promote gender equality and
empower women

 Equal rights in society, job and


Education

 Empowering women
Goal 4: To reduce child mortality

 Reducing child mortality


Goal 5: To improve maternal health

Goal 5 has two targets

 Maternal mortality
 Universal access to reproductive health
Goal 6: To combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and
other diseases

 To halt by 2015 and have started to reverse the spread of


HIV/AIDS.
 40 percent reduction in new HIV infection from 3.5 million cases
in 2000 TO 2.1 million cases in 2013.
 To have ceased and started reversal of the incidences of malaria
and other major diseases by 2015.
Goal 7: To ensure environmental sustainability

To ensure environmental sustainability we need to focus our


attention into these 5 factors

 Deforestation
 Greenhouse emissions
 Ozone layer
 Marine fishing
 Supply of drinking water
Goal 8: To develop global partnership for
development

 Develop further an open, rule-based, predictable non-discriminating trading and financial


system
 Address the special needs of the least developed countries
 Address the special needs of landlocked developing mall developing countries and small
developing states
 Deal comprehensively with the debt problems of developing countries through national
and international measure in order to make debt sustainable in the long term
 In cooperation with the private sector, make available the benefits of new technologies,
especially information and communication
Millennium Development Goals: In the
perspective of Bangladesh

 Digitization
 In schooling system
 In transport system

 Eradicating poverty
 Plugging out corruption
 Equilibrium in wealth distribution
