Describing words or adjectives are words that

describe a person, animal, thing or object, place,


idea, or event. These words tell something
about the subject or topic of each sentence.

Examples: thirsty crow


narrow neck
big beak small stones
yellow yoyo

hot soup

new shoes
These describing words can be used in simple or
compound sentences to make them more interesting.

A simple sentence expresses a single complete thought.

A sentence has a subject and predicate.

It starts with a capital letter and ends with a period (.), a


question mark (?), or an exclamation point (!).
Examples: The crow is thirsty.
