Describing Features: Transport and Handling Equipment
A transtainer is a large gantry crane used to load and unload containers onto trucks or
railway wagons or to store the containers on top of each other in stacks in a container
yard.
Gantry cranes consist of parallel frame bars with cross-bars that hold the crane
mechanism over the container stacks. Transtainers may be used on rails or pneumatic
tires. When on rails, the transtainer can only operate directly above the rails. On tires,
it has a broader field of movement and may be called an RTG, which is short for
rubber-tyred gantry crane.

Reach stacker
Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reach_stacker
A reach stacker is a vehicle used for handling intermodal cargo containers in small terminals or
medium-sized ports. Reach stackers are able to transport a container short distances very quickly
and pile them in various rows depending on its access.
Reach stackers have gained ground in container handling in most markets because of their
flexibility and higher stacking and storage capacity when compared to forklift trucks. Using reach
stackers, container blocks can be kept 4-deep due to second row access.
What is a Gantry Crane?
A gantry crane is a type of overhead crane with a single
or double girder configuration supported by
freestanding legs that move on wheels or along a track
or rail system. Gantry cranes are usually considered
when there is a reason not to incorporate an overhead
runway system.
