EDITING WORKSHOP

Before you start to edit there a few simple rules
Admin BEFORE you can edit

In order for your footage to last, not corrupt or go offline you need to make sure you do the following things:
• Create a Folder on your memory stick / hard drive
• Name it (Title of Production)
• Within that folder create 3 more sub folder
I. Footage
II. Sound
III. Graphics

• Transfer ALL clips from SD card into the folder titled FOOTAGE
• Transfer ALL sound clips (including music) into the folder titled SOUND
• Any graphics or still images need to be transferred into the GRAPHICS folder
• Open up Premier Pro and SAVE IT to the main folder (Title of production)
• Any extra footage MUST be transferred to these folders as well

Failure to follow these steps could result in lost or damaged footage

Once your effect is on your clip you can adjust the strength of the effect by altering the levels in the Effect
control panal which is located behind your source panel.
Most used effects:

speed duration; another box will appear – change the speed by dragging the numbers to either side (above

Further practice
• Over the next week you will be editing a few filming techniques and footage so
you will get used to the software

• In you spare time please come to the computer rooms or the SLT and practice
using the software

• It is THIS software you will be using to edit ALL your productions – NOT
iMovie or Windows Movie Maker or any other editing software you may have
at home. If you do NOT have Premier Pro you will edit ALL your work at college
