COVID-19

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN

ATMOSPHERIC OZONE AND
COVID-19 CASES
CASE STUDIES AND EXPERIMENTS
OZONE THE AIR PURIFIER
-OZONE LAYER FOUND IN IONSPHERE IS BENEFICIAL TO
HUMAN BEINGS
-OZONE ALSO USED IN AIR PURIFIERS TO DISINFECT THE
ROOM .
-OZONE ALSO FOUND IN GROUND LEVEL IN ALL CITIES IN
SMALL AMOUNT BY PHOTOSYNTHETIC BYPRODUCT OF
PLANTS .EVEN EMITTED BY HOUSEHOLDS LIKE WASHING
MACHINE.
-THE NO (NITROGEN OXIDE EMISSION FROM VEHICLES
REDUCED THE OZONE LEVEL IN ATMOSPHERE.
-CORRELATION BETWEEN THE OZONE LEVEL AND COVID 19
SPREAD IS EVIDENT .
OZONE LEVEL IN HILLSTATIONS
• NORMALY THE OZONE LEVEL IN HILL STATIONS
IS HIGHER THAN THE GROUND LEVEL.
• THE LEVEL ALWAYS HIGHER THE 60 PPB IN THE
AIR.
• IN THIS LEVEL ANY KIND OF VIRUS CAN NOT
SURVIVE IN THE AIR.
• THE INCREASE OF THE HEIGHT OF HILL WE
CAN FIND THE INCREASED OZONE LEVEL
COVID 19 VS HILL STATIONS
• HILL STATIONS HAVE MORE OZONE WHICH IS ENOUGH TO
KILL THE VIRUSES IN THE AIR.
• SURPRISINGLY THE SPREAD OF COVID 19 IS LESS AND
CORONA VIRUS CASES LESS IN HILL STATIONS.
• KODAIKANAL HAS 0 CASES. NILGIRI HAS 14 CASES REPORTED
IN JUNE 11. ALL FROM OUTSIDERS STILL DATE NO INCREASE
IN NUMBERS TILL DATE.
• THE MAHALESBAR IN MAHARASTRA ALSO HAS 0 CASES .
• THE HILL COUNTRY NEWZELAND HAS 0 CASES .
• THE HILL STATE OF USA (alaska ) HAS LESS NO OF PATEINTS
COMPARED TO OTHER STATES.
OZONE AND CITIES
• THE GROUND LEVEL
OZONE IS DECRESED BY
VEHICLES EMISSION.
DURING LOCKDOWN
THE ATMOSPHMERE
OZONE LEVEL IS
INCREASED ,
OZONE AND CITIES
• Maharastra cities see rise in ozone levels during lockdown:
National Clean Air Programme tracker.
• The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), comprising Mumbai, Thane,
Navi Mumbai, and Kalyan, witnessed a 24.8% spike in urban ozone during
the first three phases of the lockdown over two months (March 24 to May
24), according to an analysis released as part of the National Clean Air
Program (NCAP) tracker on Tuesday by Mumbai-based air quality research
group Respirer Living Sciences (RLS) and Delhi-based communications
initiative, Climate Trends.
• Note : After vehicle moments in the city during May month
the covid-19 cases increased in 1000 numbers.
Ozone and cities
• IIT DELHI STUDY
• During lackdown India witnessed a 43% drop for PM2.5, 31% for
PM10, 10% for CO, and 18% NO2 during the lockdown compared to
previous years. While there were negligible changes for SO2, a
sharp rise (17%) was recorded for ozone concentration.
• Ozone, which affects climate, increased marginally (10-20%) across
northern, western, and central India, but eastern parts saw a
mammoth 89% increase compared to previous years.
• Note : The spread of covid -19 virus is less in eastren states of
india ..like odissa , jarkand ,bihar ,uttarhand ,north east …
• West bengal after lackdown because ofmore vehicles ozone level
droped and cases increased.
Ozone and cities
• Chennai case study
• Up to June 11 -( National air Quality Data )
• Zone wise Total cases
ozone level (month Avg )
• Alandur 521
27 ppb
• Manali 383
56 ppb
• Velachery less than 100
66 ppb
Maharastra casestudy
• Mumbai
