TEACHING AND LEARNING

Energizer

Rabbit, wall or arrow?

Growth Mountain
 To start a lesson and to reflect on the lesson
 Example
 Tostart a lesson on ‘writing instructions', questions
related to verbs and connectives can be framed to
assess the level of understanding of the whole class.
 Toreflect on the lesson also we can use the same
strategy to see how many students got a clear
picture of verbs and connectives after the lesson.
Circle activity to reflect

Example
Asks students to form a circle , encourage them to say sentences about verbs and instructions. One child make two steps towards the
middle of the circle and says a sentence. Those who agree to the statement should come to the middle of the circle. Repeat the activity.
Expert’s circle
Students will be divided into expert group and given something to read. A chart paper should be given providing space for each member to write
their understanding of the topic after reading the given text. They share their ideas in the group. Later they will be grouped into another group
where experts from all other groups will be included. They share their knowledge by writing and explaining.
The expert group go back to their original group and consolidate their learning. This activity can be modified according to the needs of the topic.
Traffic lights

To get the feedback of all students

at one go, this strategy is useful.
For example, students who knows
more than 10 show green,5-10
yellow and less than 5 red
3 corner activity with pictures
(Can be used as a tuning in activity.)

Eg; State a statement related to the

objective the lesson. Ask children to
choose a picture that depicts their idea.
They need to share with their team
members why they chose that picture.
The doughnut activity

enables students to have a structured conversation

with several people in a short space of time. The
students stand in two concentric circles facing each
other. Working with the partner they face, they
share their ideas and change partners many times...
Write your thoughts in a
minute(Queue activity)

Students will be given a topic. They will

stand in a line, one by one they write
their thoughts. The group with
