One plus Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., commonly referred to as One Plus, is a
Chinese manufacturer headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong.
It was founded on 16th December 2013 by Pete Lau & Carl Pei.
As of 2020, One Plus has a revenue of US$1.4 Billion thus falling under the unicorn
category.
The Industry it operates is consumer electronics. Its main competitors are Samsung,
Apple and Google Pixel among many others.
One Plus has a motto – “Never Settle” which is all about getting maximum value
for your money without having to pay through the nose for the product.

Market share of One Plus is quite high. It currently occupies the 1st place in the smart phone industry with 33% market share
in 2019 in India followed by Samsung(26%), Apple(25%), Google Pixel(10%) and other competitors occupy 6% market share.

maintained an increasing growth rate over the years as shown in the diagram below.

BCG MATRIX
The BCG Growth-Share Matrix is a portfolio planning model developed by Bruce
Henderson of the Boston Consulting Group in the early 1970s. It is based on the
observation that the company’s units can be classified into four categories based on
combination of Market Growth and Market Share relative to the largest competitor.

With the information gathered it can be concluded that One Plus falls under the STARS category in the
BCG Matrix because of its high growth rate and high market share.

Even during the global pandemic situation that happened in the year 2020 due to COVID-19, One Plus
still has maintained its position as No.1 in the Indian smart phone industry. So its safe to forecast that in the
future also One Plus will be a premium Star Category company in India.
