It includes newspapers, weeklies, magazines, monthlies, banners & graphics, posters and other forms of printed material
•The contribution of print media in providing
information and transfer of knowledge is remarkable. Even after the advent of electronic media, the print media has not lost its charm or relevance. •Print media has the advantage of making a longer impact on the minds of the reader, with more in-depth reporting and analysis.
•Magazines and newspapers are the dominant traditional
print media used in advertising. Brochures, flyers and other collateral pieces also are sometimes referred to as print collateral. While digital media expansion has affected use of print, it remains a viable way to advertise. •Primary strengths of print relative to digital include tangibility, an enduring message and high credibility. Some people prefer to read media in print as opposed to digital formats. BROADCAST MEDIA •Broadcast media describes the traditional forms of media that include television and radio. Technically, the term ‘broadcast media’ can include the internet as well and even such things as Bluetooth marketing and other forms of location-based transmissions. NEW MEDIA •New media is a catch-all term used for various kinds of electronic communications that are conceivable due to innovation in computer technology. In contrast to “old” media, which includes newspapers, magazines, books, television and other such non-interactive media, new media is comprised of websites, online video/audio streams, email, online social platforms, online communities, online forums, blogs, Internet telephony, Web advertisements, online education and much more. MEDIA CONVERGENCE •Media convergence, phenomenon involving the interconnection of information and communications technologies, computer networks, and media content. It brings together the “three C’s”—computing, communication, and content—and is a direct consequence of the digitization of media content and the popularization of the Internet. Media convergence transforms established industries, services, and work practices and enables entirely new forms of content to emerge. It erodes long-established media industry and content “silos” and increasingly uncouples content from particular devices, which in turn presents major challenges for public policy and regulation.
