Critical reading is an active process of
discovery because you discover an author’s
view on a subject, you enter into a dialogue
with the author, you discover the strengths
and weaknesses of the author’s arguments,
and you decide if you agree or disagree with
the author’s view.
How can you be a
Critical Reader ?
1. Annotate what you read.
 underline, encircle, or highlight words,
phrases, or sentences that contain
important details
 write marginal notes asking questions
or commenting on ideas of the writer
