• Chest movement may be reduced on affected


side
• Trachea deviated away from affected side (if
large)
• Findings over affected area:
• Percussion note - dull
• Auscultation - reduced breath sounds
• Vocal resonance - reduced
• Tactile fremitus - reduced
left lung collaps
• Rreduce expansion at left
side
• Trachia shifted to left side
• Decrease vocal fremitus
• Dull percussion note
• Diminished breath sound
• Decrease vocal resonance
air space filling, acinar, alveolar pattern
(Consolidation):
 May be reduced movement on affected
side
 Trachea central
 Tactile fremitus over area increased
 Findings over affected area:
 Percussion note - dull
 Auscultation – bronchial Breathing,
then crepitation
 Vocal resonance over area is
increased
Pneumothorax
 Chest movement may be
reduced on affected side
 Trachea may be deviated
 Findings over affected
area:
 Percussion note - hyper-
resonant
 Auscultation - reduced
breath sounds
 Vocal resonance - reduced
 Tactile fremitus - reduced
