WHAT IS THE PASSIVE VOICE?
 The passive voice is used when you want to express an action
putting more emphasis on the object that the person performing the
action. For example: 

 You boil the water for two minutes. 


Boil water for two minutes.

 This sentence indicates that someone boiling water for two minutes. 
In the next sentence, however, it expressed the same thing but no
matter who takes that action.

 The water is boiled for two minutes. 


The water is boiled for two minutes.
 To form the passive voice, the verb is taken in
question and makes the past participle. Then add
the verb to be in conjugation and time
corresponding to the new subject. For example:

 The police rescued the boy. 


The boy was rescued by the police.

 The first sentence is in the active voice. The


second, in the passive voice.

 The object of the first sentence (the boy) to be


the subject in the sentence in the passive voice.
FORMATION OF PASSIVE VOICE
 In English, the passive voice is composed of two elements: 
the appropriate form of the verb "to be" + "past participle“

AFFIRMATIVE

NEGATIVE
• The house wasn’t built in 1998
• These houses weren’t built in 1998
INTERROGATIVE

• Was the houses built in 1998?


• Were these houses built in 1998?

 Past Simple

1. The cake was eaten by them.


2. My homework was made by a friend. 
3. The cat was killed by a car. 

Past Continuos

4. The letter was being written by my sister. 


5. My cousin was being educated in Europe. 
6. The car was being fixed by a good man. 
 Present Simple

1. The cookies are made by my mother.


2. The dress is torn by the dog. 
3. I am woken by the alarm clock.

Present Continuos 

4. The plants are being watered by the gardener. 


5. My friend is being forgiven by his wife. 
6. The ring is being bought by my boyfriend.
