Vertical Construction
Vertical construction includes construction projects that
stretch vertically like apartment buildings, office buildings, skyscrapers,
and other types of commercial buildings.

THE ESTATE MAKATI
The Estate Makati is a 276.8 m (908 ft)
residential skyscraper under construction
in Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines.
Construction
• The Estate Makati is a project of ST
6747 Resources Corp. which is a joint
venture of SM Development Corp.
(SMDC) and Federal Land, Inc.
• The groundbreaking ceremony was
held on January 2019. DM
Construction was tasked as the general
contractor of the building project
estimated to cost at least ₱10 billion.

THE ESTATE MAKATI
• The Estate Makati will be a 54-storey
building standing 276.8 meters (908 ft) tall
making it among the tallest buildings in the
Philippines and the tallest along Ayala
Avenue.
• It will be built on top of a 3,500 square
meters (38,000 sq.ft) lot at Apartment
Ridge.
• British architectural firm Foster +
Partners was involved which designed The
Estate as a cross-shaped building to reduce
adverse sunlight exposure to occupants.
• The skyscraper will host 188 residential
units including eight penthouse suites. The
building also has 618 parking slots with
charging support for electric vehicles

DDT SKY TOWER
The DDT Sky Tower is an office skyscraper under
construction in Quezon City, Metro
Manila, Philippines.
• The DDT Sky Tower is a project of DataLand Inc.
and is the first project of the company under its
office spaces arm, DataLand Offices.
• The 60-storey building will stand on a 5,000 square
meters (54,000 sq ft) land and will have a total
leasable office space of 115,000 square meters
(1,240,000 sq ft) reportedly the biggest in the
Philippine office space industry as of mid-2019.
• The office spaces of the building will be divided
into three zones: Low zone (16th to 27th floors),
mid zone (28th zone) and high zone (43rd to 57th
floors).

PALAIS ROYALE
Location
• Situated in the heart of south Mumbai,
Worli Naka,

Features
• The building has a height of 310m
above the ground level
• Has a total structural height of 325m
from the bottom of the foundation to the
top of the elevation cap
• Base dimension: 84m x 86m
• Construction area: 3 million sq.ft. with 88
slabs

Structural Systems
• Overall building is a reinforced concrete
structure on a raft foundation
Apartment Floors
• Beam and slab system was used
• Column placement does not match vertically
• Residential floor has 244 columns and the
parking levels have 88 columns
• Hence, up to 9m deep by 1200mm to 1500
wide transfer girders were placed in an
interstitial level to enable efficient column
locations in each occupancy

Parking and Amenity Levels
• The structural below transfer girder level is
comprised predominantly of a post-tensioned
flat slab except in the Brahmasthan where
the 25m by 22m rectangular area is framed
by strong post-tensioned mbeams
Soil Profile
• Estimated safe bearing pressure of
220T/sq.m with settlement less than 25mm
• Modulus of subgrade reaction of 8800T/m3
• Poisson’s ratio – 0.32
• Young’s Modulus – 5200MPa
• Shear Modulus – 200 MPa
