Hydroelectric Powerplants
 Hydroelectricity is
electricity produced from hydropower

 Hydropower is produced in 150

countries, with the Asia-Pacific region
generating 33 percent of global
hydropower in 2013
 Anyone who has ever seen a large waterfall
understands the enormous amount of energy
present in rushing water. Harnessing a natural
force of this magnitude requires advanced
engineering skill and colossal constructions.
Modern hydro power plants have dams that may
be over one hundred metres high, huge man-made
lakes and turbines weighing hundreds of tonnes.
 Angat Dam is located within the Angat
Watershed Forest Reserve in Barangay San Lorenzo
(Hilltop), Norzagaray, Bulacan. It supplies potable water
to Metro Manila and powers a hydro-electric power plant.
Water Turbine
 A waterturbine is a rotary machine that
converts kinetic energy and
potential energy of water into mechanical
work.
