This document provides instructions for writing a synthesis paper. It explains that a synthesis involves combining multiple sources into a shortened version by including the key points from each source in your own words. The writer must select relevant parts from suitable sources, paraphrase and summarize the information, and fit all the sources together into a continuous text while citing the original authors. It outlines an 11-step process for synthesizing sources which includes finding texts, reviewing and taking notes on ideas, organizing the information, paraphrasing notes, checking for accuracy, and combining notes into a single paper. Finally, it provides a template for structuring the synthesis paper and includes sample rubrics for evaluation.
