 Input Devices

• Input devices are pieces of hardware which is

used to inter information or data in your
computer. Keyboard, mouse, USB and scanner
are the most common input devices.
 Keyboard
• It is one of important input devices.
• It is a board which includes a group of keys, all
of these keys have special functions.
 Keyboard
1- Cursor arrow Keys: the keys which has arrows
and used for moving insertion up, down, left and
right and also some other keys like home, page
up, page down are called cursor arrow keys.
2- Alphanumeric Keys: keys which contains
numbers and letters are called alphanumeric
keys.
 Keyboard
3- Function Keys: those keys which we know them
by the name of ( F keys) and are at the top of your
keyboard. They are used to do special functions.
4- Dedicated Keys: shift, alt, tab,caps lock and
control are called dedicated keys and used for
alternative character.
5- Numeric Keys: contain numbers and mostly you
can find it in right of desktop’s keyboard.
 Mouse
• It helps you to move cursor all around the
screen quickly.
• It helps you to choose, click and moves the
options.
• It can copy, select and move texts, pictures
and other file or folders that you want.
• A mouse can start or open a program or a file.
 Language Work
• There are some ways for describing function
1- for+ gerund
Example: We can use a mouse for moving the cursor.
2- used to + infinitive
Example: Keyboard is used to enter the information in
computer.
3- relative pronoun+ verb
Example: Email is a way of communication which helps
you to transfer your message by internet.
 Describing Features
• You can describe features by these words( has,
allow, execute, feature, can, work)
Example:
computer can do all mathematics calculations.
A computer has different kinds of input devices.
A mouse allows you to choose options.
An email works through internet.
Keyboard features five kinds of keys.
Computer executes all operations quickly.
 Homework
• Write a description for PlayStation controller.
