How to form a sentence ?
In this session, we are going to
refresh our memory by learning
how to form a sentence using
VERBS (kata kerja).
1. Positive form
• For I, you, we, they, names
we used :

Subject + infinitive
(Verb 1)

• For she, he, it, name


we used:

Subject + infinitive
(Verb 1) + s/es
EXAMPLES
Saya menonton TV  I watch TV

Sarah menonton TV  Sarah watches TV

Aisyah dan Fatima makan siang  Aisyah and Fatima have lunch

Khadijah makan siang  Khadijah has lunch


There are several rules that must be observed
when adding s/es on a verb (infinitive), as
follows:

2. Verb (infinitive) that ends in
the letters "ch, o, ss, sh, x, z" the
suffix is "-es"

3. verb (infinitive) that ends with the letter "y" and
is preceded by a consonant (consonants), then the
suffix "-y" was changed to "i" and then added "-es".

4. The verb (infinitive) that ends
with the letter "y" is preceded by a
vowel (vocals), plus enough with the
suffix "-s'.

• For she, he, it, name (only 1)

Subject + does not (doesn’t) + Verbs

• Information :
In the form of negative verbal sentence, the additional ”-s /
-es" to the verb does not exist.
EXAMPLE
They do not/ don’t go home
(Mereka tidak pulang)

She does not/doesn’t have breakfast every morning.


(Dia tidak sarapan setiap pagi)

I do not/ don’t study math


(Saya tidak belajar matematika)

• Information :
In the form of negative verbal sentence, the additional "s / es"
to the verb does not exist
EXAMPLE
Do you have breakfast? Yes I do
(Apakah kamu sarapan?) No I don’t

Does Umar go to school? Yes he does


No he doesn’t
(Apakah Umar pergi ke sekolah?)
Yes they do
Do Abu and Ali go home? No they don’t
(Apakah Abu dan Ali pulang?)
