 The presence and absence
of oxygen has various
effects on matter. Among
these common ones that
you readily see are
combustion and rusting.

with oxygen present in the air.
This kind of reaction is slower
than the rate of combustion. The
amount of rust formed in an iron
depends on moisture and
humidity of the surroundings.

 The change in color of the
inner fleshy part of the
apple is due to its exposure
to oxygen.
 A certain fish pond owner
reported that there has been a fish
kill in a pond that he owns. The
fisheries bureau investigated the
incident, only to find out that the
fish pond was overly populated.
