text.
- refer to the other aids that the author may use such as:
( footnotes, Marginal notes, prefatory statements, illustrations,
format, etc. )
FOOTNOTES
 footnotes happen when the author wants to give more information
about something in the text.
 they’re usually used to explain things like vocabulary words or to
give background information.
 usually marked with a small superscript number.
