WHAT IS FILIPINO VALUES? 

 Refers to the set of values majority of the


Filipino have historically held important in
their lives. This Philippine value system
includes their own unique assemblage of
consistent ideologies, moral code, ethical
practices, etiquette, and values that are
promoted by their society.

1. BAYANIHAN OR
SPIRIT OF KINSHIP
& CAMARADERIE

 Bayanihan is a core
essence of the Filipino
culture. It is helping out one's
neighbor as a community, and
doing a task together, thus
lessening the workload and
making the job easier. It is
also called the "community
spirit". 
2.PAKIKISAMA

 It means getting along with others to preserve a


harmonious relationship. It invites the Filipinos to do
good and to be a nice companion. Pakikisama is also
sharing one's wealth, talent, time and self with fellow
human beings and working together for a common good.
This values bridges the gap between cultures. 
3. GRATITUDE

 "Utang na loob" debt of gratitude – Is an obligation to


repay a person from whom one has received a favor. It is
one way of showing deep appreciation for lending out a
hand. 
4. RESPECTFUL (MAGALANG) 

 Filipinos are respectful both in words and in actions to


the older people. 
5. COMPASSIONATE

 a Filipino trait of being


sympathetic to others even if
the person is a stranger.
6. FLEXIBLE 

 The ability of Filipinos to ride 


or to adjust to the norms of
other group just to attain
smooth and  harmonious
relationship.

VALUES
1. BAHALA NA

 Roughly translated as
“come what may”, this is
the Filipinos’ own version
of fatalism, the belief of
leaving everything to the
hands of fate.
2. CRAB MENTALITY 

 An attempt to “pull down” someone who has


achieved success beyond the others done by
jealousy and insecurity.
3. NINGAS-KUGON

 Being enthusiastic only during the


start of new undertaking but ends
dismally in accomplishing
nothing.
4. MAÑANA HABIT

 Delaying or setting aside a


certain task assigned on the
next day although it can be
done right away. 
5. OVERSENSITIVE (BALAT
SIBUYAS)

 Filipinos have tendency to be


irritated easily or hurt upon
hearing some criticisms or
comment.
