WHAT IS TEAM MANAGEMENT?
When different professionals work together as a team to
reduce medical errors and improve patient’s outcome , this
type of management is called as TEAM MANAGEMENT.
Teamwork techniques are employed across all the industries but are
especially important in health care setup where patient’s well being
are at stake.
Every person on a healthcare team bring their various experiences,
skill sets and resources that lead to better overall health outcomes.
IMPORTANCE OF TEAM
MANAGEMENT
It improves productivity of the patient.
Working together reduces the number of medical errors and increases
patient’s safety.
Teamwork is centered on solid communication, patients and their families and
sometimes feel more at ease and report they accept treatments and feel more
satisfied with their health care.
Each person is responsible for the provision of services or treatment in which
they specialize and hence care is taken considering each and every aspect of
patient’s need.

VARIOUS PROFESSIONALS INVOLVED IN REHABILITATION TEAM ARE AS FOLLOW:-
AUDIOLOGISTS
They are healthcare professionals who assess and manage hearing
and balance problems. They also help with fitting and management
of hearing aids and other listening assistive devices.
They suggests whether a child is eligible for cochlear implant ,
whether he is benefitted from hearing aids or not . They also do
auditory training and mapping after the implant.
They also program the aids according to the needs of patient or
special population.
SPEECH-LANGUAGE
PATHOLOGISTS
As communication is the basic need of every individual, role of slp is
also important in team.
They assess speech and language, cognitive-communication and
oral/feeding/swallowing skills.
They treat individual who have communication disability. They
manage speech and language in children with delayed skills.
They are also trained to impart AAC communication strategies such
as sign language , lip reading and other language approaches.
Children with oro-motor problems also require speech therapists.
PSYCHOLOGISTS
They assess all your mental and physical symptoms . They make a
diagnosis and work with patients to develop management plan for
treatment and recovery.
The ones working with Intellectual disability and learning disability
are special psychologists or psychiatrist.
They also include management of neuro-developmental disorders
such as autism spectrum disorders (ASD) , ADHD and epilepsy.
GENETISICST
Responsible for assessing patients with a history of disabilities or genetic
abnormalities for a pattern that indicates unknown syndrome. He counsels the family
regarding the diagnosis, the recurrence risk for additional off-spring of both family ,
patient and the prognosis.
PARENTS
One of the most important factors in a patient’s recovery is the
involvement and support of the family.
They are responsible for child’s active participation in the therapeutic
programmes .
They play huge role in celebrating, boosting and supporting their
child all his life.
The parent can become an educator for the child throughout the
rehabilitation process.
