Statistical Process

Control
• Use of Statistics to detect and eliminate nonrandom variations
in the conversion process.
• The process is said to be in control when all variation are
random
• The process is said to be out of control when some variations
are nonrandom.
• The primary tool- Control Charts
Variables and Attributes
Variables and attributes are used in process control.
Variables: product characteristics on a continuous scale. Eg:
length, weight etc.
Attributes: Binary characteristics by rates like good or bad,
success or failure etc.
Creating Control Charts
• Calculate USL/UCL
• Calculate LSL/LCL
• Plot the sample data
• Interpret the chart
• Update the chart
Types of Control Charts
• X bar chart
• p chart
• R chart
• np chart
• c chart
