UEEA 3773 Power Transmission

and Distribution
C O U R S E O V E RV I E W
Course OBJECTIVE

• To provide a thorough basis for the understanding of the

transmission and distribution networks for various voltage
levels and feeder lengths.

Course OUTCOME (CO)

• On completion of this course, students shall be able to:

• Illustrate the basic structure and operation of power transmission and
distribution system.
• Determine the transmission line parameters for short, medium and long
overhead transmission lines and underground cable in a power
distribution network.
• Design an overhead and underground transmission system with proper
sag and tension calculation, and the insulation of the system.
• Critique the impacts of distributed generation on distribution networks.
• Illustrate the operation and control of distributed generation and high
voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system.
