Personal therapy contributes to the therapist
professional work in three ways:
1. Offers a model therapeutic practice in learning what
is helpful or not helpful.
2. Can further enchance interpersonal skills.
3. Can contribute to a therapist ability to deal with to
deal with the ongoing stresses associated with
clinical work.

As a counselors we can take our
clients nor further than we have been
willing to go in our own lives. If we
are not committed personally to the
value of examining life, we will not be
able to convince clients of the worth of
personal exploration.
