Role of Ngo in Society

A non-governmental organization i.e NGO is an organization that is

neither a part of a government nor a conventional for-profit business.
NGOs are typically set up by ordinary citizens. NGOs may be funded
by governments, foundations, businesses, or private people. NGOs
are proving to be a necessity rather than a luxury in societies
throughout the modern world. The incapability of the government
alone to create just and sustainable societies is convincingly
demonstrated throughout history.

The primary role of children NGO in modern societies is that it
promotes communication. It helps communication between
governments about what local people are thinking, doing and feeling.
And it also includes informing local people about what the government
is planning and doing. Not only NGOs provide opportunity for the self-
organization of society but also enable citizens to work together
voluntarily to endorse values and civic goals. They promote local
initiative and problem solving. They also help the society by
empowering citizens and promoting change at the “grass roots”. In
some cases, NGOs become spokespersons for the poor and take
efforts to promote government policies on their behalf. NGOs set up
campaigns and introduce various projects for welfare and wellbeing of
society. Therefore NGOs play a very crucial role from advocating and
uplifting the poor to implementing various government programs.
