The Medan State University (Unimed) library is one of the best libraries in Indonesia. The stat
us is supported by new facilities and buildings occupied since September 2013. The library w
hich has an area of 13,585 m2 then changed its name to Digital Library, which is located on J
alan William Iskandar, Pasar V, Kenangan Baru, Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regen
cy. The Unimed Digital Library building consists of 5 floors with better facilities. The facilities fo
r the new Medan State University Digital Library Building are; The 1st floor consists of Locker
Room, Discussion Room, Book Shop, Reading Room, Borrowing, Returns, Short Loan Collect
ions, Reference Collections, Serial Issues (Journals, Magazines, Newspapers), Information,
Mushola. The 2nd floor consists of Administration Head Room, Standard Collection, Discussio
n Room. The 3rd floor consists of Scientific Work Collection Room (Thesis, Thesis, Dissertatio
n, Research Report), Technical Services, Library Automation. The 4th floor consists of Meetin
g Room, Seminar Room, Internet Room. The 5th floor consists of Multimedia, (Home Theater
3D, Audio Visual), Cubic. The name of the Medan State University Digital Library Building, whi
ch is installed in the new library building, is a tough challenge for libraries to create digital libra
ries that can compete nationally and internationally.
